Are you looking for a budget hotel in New York? I stayed at the Pod Hotel in Williamsburg Brooklyn and had a great time. Why? Read my review.
Where
Pod Hotel Brooklyn is in Williamsburg, at 247 Metropolitan Avenue. I took the airtrain out of JFK to Howard Beach, hopped on the A train for 8 stops until Broadway Junction and took the L train to Bedford Avenue. From there I walked to the Pod in less than 5 minutes. The NYC ferry also has a stop nearby. Right where the YO/OY sculpture is. And the Empire State, Chrysler Building, Freedom Tower and Park 432. Among others.....Oh, and also nice: Citibike stations near the hotel.
The room
I stayed in a standard Queen pod. A very small room in which 2 persons should be able to stay, with a basic and functional set up. The bed - with drawers underneath, just like the bunks at The Jane - stood with 1 side against the wall and had a little desk at the footend. Since I was there by myself I had no problems getting out of bed without having to climb over somebody. The shower and the toilet are in the same space - I did not manage to take a shower without getting the toilet soaking wet. There's a seperate sink next to where the shower/toilet are.

The location. Williamsburg is SO cool! There are all kinds of little shops, cozy restaurants, bars and supermarkets within walking distance. The Pod staff are supernice. They helped me out when I ran into some problems with my Citibike rental. Every morning guests can get coffee and pastries in the lobby and when I checked in I was given a voucher for a free glass of wine at the winebar next to the Pod: Woodhul. Nice place! The Pod hotel also organises free walkingtours. I could not fit it into my schedule but would have loved to join one.

I guess it would be the size of the room and the fact that the shower is in the same room as the toilet. It was perfect for myself and perhaps it would also be ok for me and the love of my life. But if I would have had to stay there with the other Newyorkcitytripper we would have had a problem.

The price
The Pod is a budget hotel. Prices vary ranging between 70 and 280 dollar. I paid 125 dollar per night.
There's a nice vibe at Devocion Cafe, not far from the Pod.
