New York City Trippers

Brooklyn Nets

I did not know the rules and I had never been to a basketballgame. So why now go see the Brooklyn Nets play in New York and pay 85 dollar for it? Because everybody says its fun? Being a Neworkcitytripper I had to go, seeing is believing right? And, to be honest, it was totally true. If you're in New York during basketball season (mid October - mid April) go see the Brooklyn Nets or the New York Knicks. Both teams play in the NBA, the National Basketball Association, which means b-ball at the highest level. And of course I did not actually go for the basketball. I went for the experience. And that's exactly what I got.

We saw The Nets play the Dallas Mavericks which was very entertaining. Do make sure you're there on time because there's lots of stuff going on long before the game starts. The waming up, practicing throwing hoops, tactics, spotting celebs along the basketball court. Mascottes that shoot t-shirts way up in the stadium. A dj playing some tunes. The Brooklynettes doing their moves (wow). And then goosebumps all over when the national anthom is sung. Life by a lady who looked like she was on her way to the Prom. And then .... action!

Because of all the breaks in the game there's enough time to go get a beer, hamburger or a Nathans Famous Hotdog (Daf's favorite) and look around a little. The young woman next to us had a big time crush on Richie. While yelling his name she almost fell over the bannister. And then got more excited because "we" won with 107 vs 106 points. Which was close, but enough. I'm a fan.

Tickets can be easily gotten online. The more popular the game, the more expensive the tickets. Which also goes the other way.

Barclays Center Brooklyn New York City

Brooklyn is actually real close to Manhattan and Barclays Center, home of the Nets, and has a subway stop. With right across a shopping area where sporthaters can also have a good time. The Atlantic Terminal Mall houses a real nice Uniqlo, Target, DSW, Victoria's Secret, Marshall's etc.
