MoMA PS1

We once went to the MoMA PS1 in Queens. And found that so cool that we actually stayed there for quite a while.

MoMA PS1

Ok. We'll be honest. We spent a long time in the M. Wells Dinette. A bright place with a great feel and classroomstyle seating where people come to eat, drink, read, talk, be by themselves or with others. The menu is displayed on (green) blackboards and from what we hear the food is great. We loved it there. Give us some cute napkins, straws wrapped in coloured paper and catchy designed menus and businesscards and we're your friend.

MoMA PS1

MoMA PS1 is diverse. Their description: "An exhibition space rather than a collecting institution, MoMA PS1 devotes its energy and resources to displaying the most experimental art in the world". We really liked Samara Golden's "flat side of the knife". It was not to miss actually, because it spanned from floor(s) to ceiling.

MoMA PS1

We walked through an area filled with notes on which people had written and visualised what they thought about art. I could have walked around there for hours. But we had more things to do......

MoMA PS1

MoMA PS1 is housed in an old schoolbuilding. It seems as if nothing much has changed in the interior. Not that it is dirty or messy, nothing like that! It's a great setting. Concrete staircases combined with wooden floors, walls with decorations over blistered off paint. That alone makes it worthwile to visit!

MoMA PS1

MoMA PS1, we'll be back! Preferably during a Warm Up event. Every Saturday - the last in June until the first in September - there's live music in the courtyard. MoMA PS1 is located in Long Island City on 22-25 Jackson Avenue at the intersection with 46th Avenue. Don't plan on going there on a Tuesday or Wednesday. The museum is closed on those days....
