Picture this. A lobby in a fancy hotel and a red velvet curtain with a long line of people waiting to get past that. An eclectic ensemble. Broadway people, hipsters, businesspeople and a hungry tourist. All waiting for the Best Burger in New York City. In Le Parker Meridien hotel.
The long line disappears quickly. People come from behind the red curtain carrying a paper bag. And finally I'm in. Inside the Burger Joint. Where there's lots to be seen. As fancy as it is on the outside as...yeah....what shall I say....no-frills and everything but fancy or classy it is inside. But, sort of cool though. Very happening.
The walls in the "restaurant" are covered with posters and writing. The menu is written on pieces of cardboard. As is the way you should place your order. So no time will be wasted.
The chef only dishes out french fries and burgers. With or without cheese and other stuff. There's also a grilled cheese sandwich for the vegetarians. My order was "a medium rare cooked burger with the works and a Samual Adams". I had to pay 18 dollars for that. Ex tip. Which you are supposed to give eventhough the only service you get is the fact that your order is handed to you when your name is yelled out loud. Nobody cleans up after you. You're supposed to to that yourself aswell.
Just as I was wondering where I was going to eat my hamburger I found a spot at a table. Thank god. Cause the people in the lobby sure would not appreciate it if I ate it there. And I did not feel much like sitting outside at 10:30 pm. So, was it the Best Burger in New York City? Well, it sure was good. But I must admit that I was really hungry....
