A huge hit for more than 10 years, The Spotted Pig in the midst of the Westvillage. I was a bit daunted by the Michelin star at first, since I'm not so much of the culinary type and more into nice cosy and casual dining. But The Spotted Pig was spot on, what a great restaurant!
The interior design is awesome. Warm, cosy, casual and lots to see. Nicely set tables, close together but that goes for most NYC restaurants.
The Spotted Pig mainly serves "seasonal British & Italian" meals. Right, what to make of that? Just go with "good" (they did not get that star for nothing, right?). The Spotted Pig's signature dish has to be the burger with shoestring fries. The "5 veg" is very popular among vegetarians. Prices for the meals are pretty decent.
They don't do reservations. Which is mostly not a problem for lunches but be prepared to wait for over 1,5 hours at night ... especially between 7 and 10 pm the wait is the longest. Waiting while enjoying a drink at the bar is a pretty good option or, alternatively, give your phonenumber to the host and wait for them to call as soon as a table is available. With the kitchen opened until 2 am a late night supper is also possible.
The Spotted Pig can be found on 314 West 11th Street (near Greenwich Street).
