Kawa Sushi

01 Sep 2014 by Esther

Not a hip hot and happening spot but a place where you can just get real good sushi, only 10 minutes away from the Highline. During the 45 minutes that we were there, the 15 tables were constantly filled and there was a lot of traffic at the sushi-to-go counter.

We were in the midst of a mixed crowd. A taxi-driver, students, mother-daughter let’s-meet-for-lunch and the couple next to us looked like they had just finished a photo shoot for some fancy magazine. Locals on a lunchbreak, in between appointments or just because. We had ordered the sushi lunch special (USD 11,50) which started with soup (that we did not like very much) and a small salad. The sushi and californian rolls were awesome! Delicious! Fresh made on the spot. You can actually watch the chefs prepare it.

As said, it’s not a stylish place but that’s ok because the food is great! Go to 24 Eight Avenue to try. And don’t bother to find the menu on a website. They don’t have that.
